Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge 2019
Book 1:
Wave me goodbye is a story about the
war by Jacqueline Wilson. This is one of my favourite books about a determined
girl called Shirley. She has to leave her home in London on a train,
because the Germans were fighting us in the war. She has a friend that she
meets on the train, but they don’t go to the same school and can’t live in the
same house.
Shirley gets to live in a massive house and on the
first night doesn’t get enough to eat. She writes a postcard to her mum and says
she doesn’t like it. After that, she makes a friend and gets splendid dinners.
She and her friend Jessica arrange to meet, but Shirley’s mum comes to try
and take Shirley somewhere else.
Jessica gets sent to Wales to live with her nanny and
Shirley tries to stop it, but it happens anyway. Shirley’s other friend runs
away with a gun, so they both go to London. They go hitch-hiking and find that
Shirley’s dad has come home. Shirley’s dad phones to say they are safe and
takes them back the next day on a train.
I liked this book, because it is an adventurous story
and I love adventures. Shirley is my favourite character, because she is imaginative,
funny and courageous. She is also kind.
I also love Jacqueline Wilson so if you like reading
books by Jacqueline Wilson or war stories, you will love this book.

This was the second book I read this summer for the reading challenge. I really liked it and read it very quickly. I liked her pet because he has a hamster head, a cat body and wings.
